Do you get emotional on the first day of school? - georgia_peach - 11-09-2012 06:45 PM

Tomorrow is the first day of school for my sons.
So many people on my Facebook tonight are posting how emotional they are going to be tomorrow.
I know I am not the only mother who doesn't get emotional. Any other mommies out there like me?

I don't really get emotional, but my children are fairly young, 3 and 5. I just look at school as an education, and not another stage of life that kids go through. But i can clearly see why some moms go through the tears and anxiety.

No, but I worry sometimes.

I do, but not in the crying sad sense. I am relieved.
Have you seen the staples commercial where dad is buying the school supplies floating through the aisles and "most wonderful time of the year" is playing in the background?
That's me! lol
I love my girls. I really enjoy having them around, but, they need school. I need to be able to clean my house and keep it looking tornado free for more than 10 minutes.
I got a bit sad on their first day of kindergarten, and when my oldest started middle school, because it's the first steps in them leaving (my mom really didn't help with this, she's a blubbering fool lol) but now that they are older it's not bad at all.
They are fine at school. I trust where they are going, the kids that are there, and I know they don't need me one bit. My middle daughter told me that I can leave now when I dropped her off for kindergarten.

Yes but it is mainly my daughter who gets emotional and stressed because she doesn't know how to do her hair and stuff, but hey that's what teenagers do! :-)
My son just gets on with it but if he doesn't get a good nights sleep he will be emotional but that's rare for him!
