Is there such a thing as Facebook libel? - auraming - 11-09-2012 06:55 PM
Basically I know this person who has been sending malicious messages to my fb friends about me and my family making false claims like my father was a drug addict and my mother was a prostitute etc etc. but I live in the Philippines and that person lives in USA my question is, can I actually sue him for libel and will the cost to sue him be shouldered by facebook or by me?

There was a couple I went to school with that got into a big fight when they broke up. The girlfriend reported him for libel and nothing happened to him. So I guess there's not much you can do.
And a celebrity said in an interview that there's no real way to successfully sue someone for talking smack about you online.
