I've noticed complete strangers turning up on mine, but then close friends at the top, which seems unexplainable. Does anyone know whether it's random?

based on the most votes and likes and interests.

First it would be the people you view most that has that letter in their name (No matter if your friends with them or not.
Then Alphabetically (From Friend List)
Then Friends of Friends
Then Strangers that have a little in common with you (ie Location,work and etc.)
Then Total Strangers
At least that is what I think it is because that's how it it for me.
