I'm not tagged in any of these, but for the last couple of days, one friend's status updates and a few pictures have appeared in my notifications with no apparent reason. Any ideas why?

maybe you added that person to your "close friends" list... that would explain it

because you probably have them marked under close friends wich lets you know pretty much there every move on facebook. it gives you the ability to know when the post something. if you don't want that then take them off your close friends list.
