ask the people on facebook. Also, you cant just delete facebook. it stays up there forever but the account CAN be made inactive. so one day i delete it, then 3 years later i remember the password because i was bored. After this i open it and find it was never deleted. i was surprised. but the only way i can really know to hack his account is my friend may know and that is called encrypting which uses numbers to find passwords etc. basically you need a skilled hacker because i am not good at this and someone who knows how to hack into other peoples ip addresses.

Just ask Facebook to 'memorialize' it:
http://www.facebook.com/help/?page=842#!/help/contact.php?show_form=deceased

It keeps his account online, and allows his friends to leave messages, but prevents anyone from falsely logging in. It also removes some personal information that can be used against his memory or family (you).

You will need to find an online obituary that refers to him in your local paper's site. As family, you can also ask them to delete the account if you so wanted.

(Keep in mind that filing false reports is illegal.)
