Is there a way (other than send a direct message) to recommend or introduce a friend to another friend in Facebook?

Yes, actually there is a way to do this, but only if the person is fairly new to Facebook and doesn't have many friends. Go to their profile and under their picture it should say "suggest friends for (name)". If the person has been around a while and has a lot of friends, you have to send a direct message like you mentioned.

There is only one way:
If the person is a new user or has under 5/10 friends. To do this just go to their profile and click on 'Suggest Friends'. Then simply select friends you think he/she knows.
