If I donate my eggs can I be traced by the children in the future? - Lal - 11-09-2012 07:21 PM

I'm 27, don't have and don't want any children. Also don't want my eggs to go to waste when there are so many women out there desperate but unable to have children of there own.
I was just wondering if any children were successfully conceived using my eggs then could they trace me in future when they turn 18? If so would they need my consent before giving the child my information if they came looking for me?
Now I know siblings can trace each other, but only if they both agree to meet?
I'm from the UK
Thanks

I think it would be choice if you choose to remain anonymous, just let them know that.

well i know it's easy(ish) for people to trace their genetic parents (my uncle had his kids taken away as he was unable to look after them. they are all grown up now. not only did they find him, they also found my mum (their dad's sister) and all my family on facebook) all they need is your name and you to have a facebook account and they can find you. if not, they can go to some government buildings to check their DNA to find out people with similar features (i.e. relatives) (although they need a valid reason for this). they could probably find you, as my cousins did, but they would have no reason to- you wouldn't have been their parent as such, just genetically, so they'd have nothing to gain by finding you. even so, it would be possible
