Do you think it would be funny if i sent a facebook friend request to my teacher? - chazgirl2010 - 11-09-2012 07:23 PM

My teacher has a facebook and i'm thinking about sending her a friend request as a joke but, i don't want it to be all awkward when i go into the classroom the next day. or fore her to just stare at me weirdly. should i do it? Best answer gets 10 points.

They probably aren't allowed to accept it so they will probably will just tell you that. It won't be awkward, but it probably wont be funny either.

In general, I find it highly inappropriate. It wouldn't be funny - it'd be very intrusive. In my opinion, your relationship with your teacher should be nothing be than your relationship with your doctor, or your dentist. A professional that is meant to help you, but not on a personal level. Your academic life should be kept completely separate from your personal life - this is not a joke.

Unless the teacher is a close family friend or relative, then don't even think about it. For your own safety as well - countless times teachers have been arrested on sexual harassment charges. You'll never see these teachers again once you graduate - might as well keep them at an academic distance and leave it at that.

Well to be honest it would really depend on the culture you live in.

For example: Here in Ireland, we address the teachers formally, Sir, Miss, never even knowing there first names, as it is considered rude, BUT, when i was in Sweden the teachers in the class were called by there first names, which is extremely odd for me, and they thought the opposite, The teachers there insisted you add them on Facebook, but warned for it to not have anything to do with school, like sending a sick note over Facebook Mail, GETTING TO THE POINT...

If you want to be her friend outside school, then yes add her, if not and your just doing it to show off, lie, say you added her, no one will know any better.

There called friend requests for a reason Smile

Take care.

That's not funny one bit! Your teacher is your teacher NOT your friend, but if "funny" is what you want to hear it is. Then by all means go ahead[= Fun is also what you might get if you end up abusing your teacher's profile or if he/she sees anything on yours that's not supposed to be there[= You'll have A LOT of fun in detention [=

Don't do it. It will make your teacher uncomfortable and that won't be good for either of you.
