Don't people realize these social networks are designed to share everything about you with everyone? That includes marketers and governments. Why would you do that? Such records live forever in some database, and the databases whisper to each other in the night.
Every picture has a time/location stamp on it.
Facial recognition software.
Employers are want to have a look at it.
You ever want to get bonded or a security clearance or run for office?
So many downsides.....

Yes I agree with you! I'm very concerned. I don't post much on Facebook, I don't put photos and don't post updates that could be used against me. Have you tried joining Google+? It's a social network which respects your privacy: I assure you on this, I've read their privacy agreement

I don't reveal all the intimate details of my life on facebook, I still have my privacy.
And I don't really care if marketers know what I like, that just means I get neat personalized ads on my comp from companies that I'll actually want to buy something from.

After reading the eye-opening series of stories on Drudge re the Google / Government so-called privacy negotiations..and how they work hand-in-glove close? I was more convinced that privacy is a myth. To top it off, they can literally 'create' a history for you. Scary stuff.

I have to confess. I've never played Facebook or Twitter. And from some of the stuff I've heard and read about them, I think I'm glad I've resisted.
