Are manhattan schools closed for the Giants Parade? - Arial - 11-09-2012 07:50 PM

There have been a lot of rumors going around on Facebook saying that Public schools in NYC are closed for the Giants Parade. Either I'm really gullible, and Im not going in or I am late. I just was wondering if this is true and they are closed today, January 7, 2012.

No, they're not closed. I only saw a story about one Catholic boys' school that gave the kids the day off because they brought in a ton of canned goods to be donated to needy families, and this was their reward.

Today is February 7, and the public schools are open.

My friend, schools in the city will be open today. However, if you want to play hockey, go ahead, you're principal and teachers will understand.

Good luck and Go Giants

Wow, the football season has only been over for two days and Native New Yorker has already switched to thinking about hockey.

I am a public school teacher.

No public schools are closed today. The whole idea that they would be is ludicrous.

And, yes, teachers and principals WILL care if you skip school. I promise you!

Do not assume it's no big deal to skip school. It will be a very big deal if you don't go to school!

the ticker tape parade is not a holiday. this means schools are open today. just because the Giants won the superbowl doesn't mean the mayor will close the schools.

so...

go to school and get your edumacation

Nope. The only school I know that was closed was the boys Catholic school that bookish mentioned that was closed yesterday, not today, after donating a lot of cans of food for their "soup-er bowl", and that happened to be the high school I went to a bunch of years ago.

No.

No point in responding now LOL, but they weren't (obviously). My high school is right like right in the middle of the parade and it was annoying to weave in and out of the crowds to get home ><
