Why would someone wish their mother, father, or any other person a happy birthday as a status update? Is it because they are attention wh0res and someone else's birthday just gives them even more reasons to garner desperately needed attention? Yes, I think that's it.

Usually, a status update of any kind is for attention. Be sure not to comment on these statuses, as comments will further encourage the attention wh0res. Also, do not, at any point, "like" a happy birthday status. Then, they will never stop.

It could be code for something else like telling your girlfriend it's ok for her to come over now.
