Just made a twitter and got the app on my iPhone. And I have no idea how to make my profile private...

Go to your settings And lock your tweets.

Go to the wrench, click "Settings", scroll down to "Tweet privacy", then click on the box (be sure it has a check on it), then click "Save changes". Warning: You can only view follower requests (people who are trying to follow you) on twitter.com.
