my boyfriend wants to relationship request on facebook but i dont want my fam to bug me

It doesn't have to be 'Facebook official'. Your boyfriend should just be happy having 'in a relationship' on his own profile. Tell him you don't want your family bugging you. He should accept it. I never put relationships on Facebook, too much drama lol.
Or, don't add family. that's another rule I live by

I'm in fact doing the same thing!
1.Go to your profile and click update settings
2. Click Basic Information, and there should be a edit icon.
3. You will see Relationship Status and next to it there will be a little settings icon (gear looking button) with a drop down menu.
4. You will see Public,Friends, Only Me, or Custom (if you want only want yourself to see it click Only me, if you want everyone to see it expect for a select few like your family member click custom)
5. If you click custom you can choose who can see your relationship status, and write down the people that you don't want to make it visible to.
