It's the ones who make a point of telling you about how depressed they are that get on my nerves. It seems certain mental health issues are like this season bandwagon. They toddle off to some expensive therapy and a few flashy pap shots later they're cured and spend eons talking about it. I'd respect them more if they just dealt with things quietly rather envoke a media circus.

I don't imagine they really think they're "it" and "all that".. how they feel inside is different from the image they portray (of success & confidence) to the public.
The entertainment industry is a tough place and I've heard most actors feel insecure and fight hard to impress producers, directors, casting agents, personal agents ect.. It's one thing to become famous and another thing to keep up with the game and have staying power like Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt ect..
Being famous is a tricky balancing act and in the search of perfection many actors become depressed and turn to drugs, beer, extreme diets ect..
Immagine if you had to live your life everyday with the pressure to be perfect.. with no privacy.. constantly trying to suck up to others... roles scarce and hundreds of rivals wanting your roles (even for famous actors).. your look and behaviour heavily scrutinized (fake stories being spread, constant plane flights).
I can see why celebs get depressed when you've fought your whole life for a dream.. to live out your passion the fear of everything getting taken away from you must be immense.
Celebs get depressed because originally they just wanted to act, sing, play sport.. they weren't properly prepared to be famous and the pressure that comes with it. Of course the bitchiness of the entertainment industry makes them insecure. It's no surprise so many child actors go off the rails. Also as technology has evolved stars have had less control over their lives and have become too accessible (twitter, youtube, fb). Stars can't retreat from the limelight like they used to.

However some of the best actors keep out of trouble and a clear mind. Examples including Meryl Streep, Al Pacino, Johnny Depp. People who care about their craft and not all the craziness that is Hollywood. Some of the younger stars popping up should take a leaf out of their book.
