If you're looking to advertise your website for free you're rather limited. Social Media sites are free to sign up for though. You could sign up to Twitter and use hashtags that gamers might follow (like #gaming etc.). You could create a Facebook page (not personal profile) dedicated to your site. It takes a little work though to get "Likes" but you could post the link to your Facebook page on your site, in Twitter posts, in blog comments.

Speaking of blog comments, start following some gaming blogs and leaving comments (just don't comment with only a link to your site. That tends to annoy the blogger and get your comment deleted.) Many blogs will allow you to add a link to your site though, usually making your name "Clickable". I've gotten some visits to my own site with this method.

Also, do a Google search for "low or no cost advertising methods." You might be surprised at the information you can find! Good luck with your site and your promotions!
