I've seen this on twitter and facebook lately and I'm really curious to know what it means.

Examples:
le shower
le new clothing
le breakfast

WHAT THE NUGGS DOES IT MMEAN? I'm so confuzzled.

It makes you sound sophisticated because it means 'the' in French.

i.e. is short for the Latin 'id est', meaning 'which is' or 'that is'. I think it's been adopted as a stylistic thing in the last few years. It's a shortcut so it saves some keystrokes, plus both its letters are on the home row. Besides, it's easy to spell. 8^)

It is "the" in French. People use it as a joke, like fake sophisticated talking.

An erudite-wannabe who's either pretentious or affectatious. But if they're under 20yrs, tho, it's affected humor or meme.
