How do I send friend requests to people I dont know on facebook without being punished? - Jess - 11-09-2012 08:58 PM
I've tried it a few times, and people have accepted my requests. But then I get a message saying "It looks like you sent requests to people you dont know. You are banned from making requests for 2 days" or something like that.
Are there any tips or tricks to avoid this? All I want to do is make some new friends with people in my area, but facebook makes it hard to do this. Thanks!

How about starting with a message telling who you are and asking if the want to be your friend first...
that way since there's communication you "know" them. You are probably spamming people that don't know who you are and they report you. It's a good way to get your account closed.

When i try to send friend requests to people i don't know but my frirnds might know; i just simply click on rhe name, hit add friend & wait.
I hope that helps, if not I'm sorry you can also try friending friends of friends but I'm not possitive that'll work for you either.

Don't know where you got that message. Punished? They can't punish anyone. How old are you? Maybe there are different rules for kids (you do sound really young).
Dude I have over 3,900 "friends" on FB. I MIGHT know 50. I've never been banned or questioned about anyone. They will ask if the person is a close friiend or acquaintance but I just click through and don't indicate anything. This has been a more recent thing with them. I've had 90% of these "friends" for quite a while (before the lousy timeline change).
I rarely make friend requests. I have plenty that ask tombe friends with me - like minded politically.

It is better to send friend request to whom you know very well, if you are sending friend request to unknown people then it will create problem for your FB account. You can try to send friend request to people who have mutual friends of your with a proper message.
