It's a programming glitch actually. Happens when user input is not fully filtered so that typed-out line breaks appear as code and not as they are written. So, instead of:

"Hi!

How are you doing?"

You might see:

"Hi!\nHow are you doing?"

Etc.

This doesn't happen to me, but it happens on other sites sometimes. Try clearing your browser cache and see if that solves the problem. Or, make sure you are using the latest version of your browser. You should be using the following versions:

Firefox - 3.6.10
Google Chrome - 6.0.472.63
Internet Explorer - 8
Safari - 5
