Isn't facebook just people putting spin on their own life? - Smells like New Screen Names - 11-09-2012 09:38 PM

A deliberate attempt to edit their lives, to "spin" it for their audience/acquaintances?

FB is only for those who found watching paint dry too exciting.

Think about it like this, What does Facebook sell?
Porn sites sell porn, wal-mart sells products, a restaurant sells food. So what does facebook sell ?

The Answer? Image.
Facebook is all about image. So unless you are perfect you are going to put a spin on your life. Where else could you make people who don't spend time with you think you are a party animal or intellectual, based on pictures etc.

Basically, yes. I take it a step further though. My personal game with myself is attempting to see how much I can post and spin before I start getting angry messages and phone calls from upset aunts and relatives. "What, did you really teach your kids that the story of Noah was the world's first holocaust? An example of God's blind and unforgiving rage?"

"Why did you tell everybody about Uncle Tony's intervention? You didn't have to "check in" to that and advertise what was going on."
