Set up a Twitter account and tweet every time you blog. Use the right hashtags and follow people who write about similar things, and they will follow you and be inclined to read your stuff. Twitter is a good way of bringing people to your blog, particularly if your blog concerns one particular subject.

Other than that, just make sure that your writing is interesting and grammatically correct. There's a lot of competition in the world of blogging, on almost any subject, so if your aim is to attract readers you have to be clear and engaging, and offer a take on the subject which nobody else offers.

1st of all, who cares what your name is. the entire 1st screen is your name, I have to scroll to see what your site actually is. 'Self name promoting' may work well with you family and you', but why would 'I' scroll, better to promote what you offer than ya name (your name at the moment means bugger all).
2nd (if your site is an applications review) the first screen should give me catorgories, search, and perhaps some quick links of what other people have been researching.

Which came first Microsoft or Bill Gates

(sarcastic)
Your're sorry, I can't get over your site, the first page is 'your name' and you ask how can I make it more popular. What's more popular than ME:
