Do Twitter Tweets links count as inbound or backlinks? - bdlagno - 10-02-2012 08:58 PM

Hello,

I would like to create more backlinks (aka inbound links) to my site to increase my google rank. Currently my google rank is 0. So I created I twitter account and tweeted the link of my website. Will google find this link and will it count it as a backlink? Untimely will tweeter links increase my page rank score?

Any SEO help on this issue would be helpful.

Yes,

Google does count backlinks from Twitter as referral visits for your website. You can definitely use Twitter to increase your site traffic. You can analyse your's site's behavior from Google Analytics. It gives you the complete report on your site's traffic.

I'm pretty sure Twitter uses the "nofollow" tag on all outbound links. So Google might follow the link, but it won't pass PageRank.

Bottom line: Twitter can drive traffic to your site, but it's not going to help with SEO.
