Anyone else here think facebook is just so lame? - Ren C - 11-09-2012 10:00 PM

I feel that #1 its an invasion of privacy #2 it has put socializing into a virtual world instead of face to face time or conversations on the phone and #3 it has shifted from a social site for young people to a site where grandma's and aunts and uncles and 6 year olds have accounts. Its just rediculous now. (i had an account about a year ago but deleted it) Thoughts?

I'm not paying for conference calling when I want to talk to 7 of my friends.

I agree with you. I've given up on everything except using it to keep in touch with friends who have moved. besides farmville and that stuff is just pointless and retarded

Everyone has their own opinions on things. I like facebook and find it way better than myspace, twitter, etc. At first I hated it but I grew on it. Now I find it convenient.

Yes, I agree facebook is taking over peoples lives. I also had an account but deleted because I couldn't see what the all the fuss was about. People are glued to there computers and smart phones socialising by typing messages. Fair enough texting, but facebook on your phone? Why do you want to put photos of yourself and information about where your going and what your doing on the internet?

Facebook is a good social networking site. That's why it is found everywhere on the web.

Well, there are a LOT of people that see this as an asset to their social life. I do not think it LAME, but I DO see it as a colossal waste of TIME. So WHAT if the focus has shifted from teenagers to whole families. Did you think you had some exclusive right when you had an account? HOW can it be an invasion of privacy when it is YOU that have to initiate actions? You have NO expectation of privacy, exactly like it is when you walk down a street. In #2, you HAVE recognized what I see as a problem, a lack or personal contact in favor of remoteness. Twitter has to be the epitome of useless drivel. It is like sound bites in a news program, no actual substance. I am afraid all we are raising are what will become "loners" in their adult life. I see no POINT in 140 character tidbits that MOST people post. I honestly do NOT have any desire to "follow" anyone via twitter or any other social networking site. The school systems where I live think it a waste of time as well, and block social networking sites as well as other non-school related sites. Several of my neighbor's kids complain loudly about the fact that they can not use these social sites at school. I have no sympathy.
