Do new Facebook users ever have to use the Timeline? - Rich - 11-09-2012 10:14 PM

If you create a new Facebook account you don't get the Timeline. This is great because I don't like the timeline. Do you ever have to switch to the timeline though or can you keep the old layout forever?

I love timeline but no you don't need to use it.

No once you switch to the timeline, you have to keep it forever. My sister doesn't have a timeline because she chooses not to have one.

Facebook will be transitioning everyone to Timeline eventually and there's no way to keep the old layout, unfortunately.

Its not possible to completely remove Timeline, but you can alter your own view of Timeline in your browser to display it in a single column layout, to make timeline pages easier to read, you just need to install the FB Purity browser extension and select the single column layout option:

This method is safe and it really works, you can tell this because it has over 61,000 "likes" on the page, and hundreds of positive comments from people who have got it to work.

FB Purity has also been reviewed and highly rated in The Washington Post, CNET, Lifehacker and PCWorld.
