So that people who search what has a hashtag can see their post.
Basically, it's to get attention.
Sometimes, it can be funny, though.

The hashtag is pretty much the ending to your topic. For example; I had a great say. #Successful or #WhatINeed is what I have. It just pretty much tells how you feel about that tweet or who your talking about. Like you could say Why do people hash tag things on Twitter. #Confused !
