what is the cheapest way i can get a divorce with children? - Doug Butler - 11-09-2012 10:17 PM

Uncontested, with children in Alabama. Can this be done online?
I'm actually the boyfriend, and my girlfriend has been seperated from her husband for 2 1/2 years, and we've been together for 2. There's no chance of reconciliation and the kids have been living with me for over a year.

Custody issues, visitation issues, child support issues? No it can't be done online.

All I can say is that the children are the most important thing in your life right now, so keep up a close and caring relationship with them so they are not hurt in this process- and have you looked at all avenues to repair your marriage first? You could also try reading Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus to understand your ex. Good luck for the future.

Divorces are cheap when they are uncontested. You can't get a divorce online.... lol. You have to have the divorce granted by a judge.

You *can* get the forms and instructions to file from your local library though. Word of caution: Read and *reread* everything in the instructions, because judges have no tolerance for people trying to do their own divorce and making mistakes. They will make you reschedule your court date over and over.. and be annoyed at wasting their time. One missed copy of a form, one mistake on a form, etc.. and they won't grant your divorce.

If you want to get yourself screwed, that would work. Who will have custody? Have you considered Bird Nest Custody?

If she has custody, which of her relatives gets the children in the event of her death? If it is not stated in the degree, the custody order is a part of her estate, so the child either goes to her relative, or who she choose in a Will, such as a boyfriend.

What about who takes care of the child if she is working and you are not? Should you have to pay for the daycare, or should you get the children?

If the two of you are willing to come to an agreement, you can use a certified mediator to to put the agreement together, but you need to cover all the bases. Come to Dads House to learn.

Dont get divorced. Stop committing adultery. She is still married. She made a vow with her husband and God.
