What is a data plan? And how much is the cheapest on Verizon? - Shannon Lott - 11-09-2012 10:19 PM

All i want to do is put Facebook and Youtube on my phone, but my sister says i need a data plan to get the internet. What is the cheapest one so i can just use those two and not waste my money?

It depends on your phone. With some featurephones from Verizon, a data plan is I think $5 or $10/month extra. But if you have a more expensive/fancier smartphone like a Droid or Blackberry, the cheapest data plan is $15/month.

you should get a blackberry, that will give you full access to facebook and youtube. The cheapest plan for verizon is $15/month. If you get a phone that is not a smartphone, the web browsing doesnt work so well. You need a full html browser. Droid's use way too much data and could encoure overages very easily. The $30 data plan is almost a must for all of the customers i sign up on droids. Trust me, Blackberry would be great for you if u have access to one. To answer your specific question, there are 3 ways to go with data: pay as you go, which can get very expensive (1.99/MB), the $15/month for 150 MB and $30/month for unlimited. You tube can use a lot of data but if you use it sparringly, the $15 plan should work for you.

Well you could get a blackberry, iPhone, or Android and just use the Wifi connection in your house and have no data plan. a data plan is basically the ability to use internet on the go on your phone.
