it means it is being searched or talked about alot

1. If something is "trending" it means that many people are talking about it.
2. You can find the trending topics on the sidebar on the right-hand side (when you're logged in).
3. Often it's because there has been a big news story or something controversial has happened, other times it just means that an update from one person has caught on.
