Arnold Schwarzenegger's son changed his name on Twitter to snub him. He's now going by his mum's last name. Would you change your name?

I might. Depending on how he acted within his family home. I probably would. What a messed up situation for the kids. SMH.

That article is just a part of the melodramatic media frenzy that has taken a family situation and made it into a public soap opera. Believing that this bullshit article is true is like substituting modern history books for old issues of Star magazine. Patrick did not change his name on Twitter as a snub to his father, or to show loyalty solely to his mother. The change was an attempt to slow down the number of gawkers who were searching for him online. He should just protect his tweets, but at this point is probably concerned about what false speculations will be made if he does. One of his sisters has gone by an abbreviated version of her first name and her mother’s surname on Facebook for years to protect her privacy. There are several fake accounts random people have made on Facebook for each of the three older kids, and her decision to go by her mother’s last name helped her friends know which one was authentically hers.

Arnold and Maria are both outstanding parents, and their kids still love him despite his infidelity. He genuinely is a very caring, devoted parent who made the effort to attend school functions, athletic meets, and social events, and be a fully committed father to all four of his kids throughout their lives. This one horrible action of his doesn’t change that fact.

I went to school with one of the girls, and have been friends with all three of the elder kids for years. I’ve known this family since I was six, and I absolutely love them. If I were a member of the Schwarzenegger-Shriver clan, I’d be proud of it. Good people sometimes do really rotten things. But yes, I would also go by Shriver online because it’s the prudent, logical thing to do if you don’t want hundreds of strangers trying to friend you out of nosiness or find your Tweets in an instant.
