It's the political climate. People got the nerve to protest after they ousted Tunisia's dictator.

The Egyptiann economy has changed for the worse for a larger number of people. The unemployment situation has now affected the college educated. The price of food has gone up with inflation. The numbers of refugees from other areas are still there with little hope of them ever returning to the homelands & of course discrimination still exist as anywhere else. The culmination of numerous factors contribute to the unrest & uprising.

the economy was getting worse and they saw that the Tunisian were able to oust there president. Also, social media (facebook, twitter, etc) made it a lot easier to get the word out.
