This is an annoyance for some people, but o.k. for others. There is one possible way to filter your wall posts from the settings tab, however you could also go to settings and make your profile set to only allow people whom are your friends, or family, or everyone to see your wall posts.

Tip: Just give yourself 30 minutes one day, and go through every single setting for your Facebook, it might be boring, but it will benefit you in the end.

You can set your wall private from some people. Once you do it so your wall will be private from others and others won't be able to see your wall.

By far the simplest way is to not use wall posts! Just send normal messages, they're private so only you and the person/people in the conversation can see the conversation.
But I agree with the first poster, spend some time checking through all your privacy settings.
