While surfing the web, I've seen a few times some words or some sentences starting with a #, just like #idontlikeyouanymore or #theworldsgonemad. I'm wondering what it's used for.

This is called a hashtag used on twitter. Some people are retarded enough to use it OFF OF twitter but its suppose to be on twitter. Not sure how to explain why twitter does it , but its mostly for trending topics . So it shows how much people are tweeting the same thing.
