Can someone explain how to use the Twitter please? - Muay Thai - 11-09-2012 10:40 PM

I have a Facebook but I've been thinking about switching over to another social site. I don't know much about the Twitter, but it sounds more secure & private far as I've heard.

On Twitter, you post statuses (tweets) that have a limited number of characters. Anybody who is following you will see this tweet. Another way it may be seen is if you add a hashtag, such as #Twitter, to your message. Anybody who searches for #Twitter will see the most recent tweets using that hashtag.

Other options are to "retweet", which takes somebody elses status and reposts it on your twitter page and broadcasts it to your followers the same way your own tweet would. You can also "quote", or send a message directly to another person by putting @UsernameHere somewhere in your tweet.

Unfortunately, direct lines of back and forth communication or a sense of having a "friends list" is almost as limited as the number of characters you can use. I like to think of Twitter as a cross between a social networking site and a blog. Your goal is to have your content read, and possibly redistributed, while also finding amusing or interesting content that you yourself can redistribute.
