How do you secure your facebook applications? - Michael - 11-09-2012 10:41 PM

I heard that hackers use facebook applications to steal information from you. Is there anyway to guard against this?

Facebook applications are very confusing. Most people don't know the first thing about them. Here's a detailed article about how to secure your facebook application settings: http://howtoviewprivatefacebookprofiles.com/secure-your-facebook/learn-how-to-properly-secure-your-facebook-applications/

- Block any apps that you don't trust.
- Don't have anything on your profile if you don't want hackers to get it. (Apps often get access to some of your info if one of your friends adds the app.) It's okay to just write "ask me" for your phone number/email/address/whatever.
- Make sure you're comfortable with the settings you've chosen for general privacy (http://www.facebook.com/editapps.php).
