you realize that most those profiles that have hundreds and thousands of friends are not really friends at all ? facebook is just one big popularity contest ..... out of all those thousands you see on pages, maybe about 5 or 10 are probably friends with the person lol

Depends on your age, if you are below 18 you have a limited amount of friends you can have on FB,
but if you are older, you can have unlimted friends

Few accounts are used for business purpose and not for personal purpose so a personal account many have limited number of friends but for a business account there can not be any limit from its own side, but FB normally don't allow to send requests and giver the message like, this person already have many friends

5000 friends is the max number but it depends on various things,
but do you think how many of them are real friend or if you have 5000 friend so will you contact them every week or invite them to your birthday party (all 5000 ).

My answer is a another important thing is a internet part of a one part is Facebook. Facebook is a growth people sour ch a meet to friend and chanting for me and family.But so a people is many more is this sight.

The maximum friends on Facebook is 5000.
Facebook recently launched an option that allow you to change a profile page to a fan page. With fan page you have unlimited friends/fans.
