I want to get facebook notifications as texts on my phone but when I set it to do that my phone number appears in my information. Is there a way to "hide" my number or something?

go into your privacy settings and change it to " only i can see"

No. I don't give my number to strangers. Customize your setting by clicking Account, then click privacy setting, then customize your contact setting. Either you can hide from some of your contacts or your contact can only be seen by friends.

there is an option - IN privacy policy - Only i can see set it
