What do you think about meeting someone on facebook? - Sweetie Pie - 11-09-2012 11:49 PM

This really cute guy added me, but he lives like 12 hours away from me, but did I mention that he is really cute. He has a kid though. He said he really wants to make it work, and he would drive down here for me. Should I say yes? He gave me his # and expects me to text him.

I think perhaps before you go committing to something major like:
a. a long distance relationship
b. becoming virtually a step parent

you should really get to know this person better. Talk on the phone, send emails, text, whatever. Find out what he is really like. Even meet him in person somewhere public, just as "friends", so you get a better idea. Facebook, like other "dating" sites, make it very easy for the other person to just tell you what they want you to know, and covering up all the things you probably NEED to know!

I am a little suspicious that he is so willing to include you in the life of his child so quickly, is he just after a replacement mother? With that in mind, you also have to consider that if you do try to make it work with him, you will also have to deal with the fact that the child's mother will also be in his life as well, for a very long time.

I would probably suggest that if you are only after someone who is cute, look a bit closer to home. Plenty of nice cute guys are out there, without children (if that bothers you) so it would be a whole lot easier to get a relationship happening with less sacrifice for both people concerned. In your situation, it sounds like it's happening far too quickly for him to have good intentions.

Good luck with it all...
