Difference between dating and being in a relationship? - bostonfan148 - 11-09-2012 11:49 PM

What's the difference. Do you ask a girl out and then ask her to be your girlfriend? Or is it assumed after x amount of dates. Like when would you change your facebook to in a relationship?

it works like that sometimes. but usually you have to establish the current status with her

well not FB but myspace in 2006... yes i changed it to " in a relationship" on a day he asked me to be his gf.

now " engaged" Smile

This is something you have to talk to her about.

When you're just going out on dates you're dating. When you ask your girlfriend if you want her to be your girlfriend and she says yes then you change it to in a relationship.

I really don't think there is a difference, unless it's a serious relationship...then just call it a "serious relationship"

Dating is where the relationship is more open and you are still looking for someone. Being in a relationship is more settled into one person and involves commitment.

Talking with her is the best way to determine that, because it can get really confusing.

well dating is considered in a relationship these days. but really dating is just going out as a girl and a guy. being in a relationship IS when you ask the girl or guy to be your girlfriend/boyfriend.

Dating is when you go out with different people @ different times. Basically, you aren't committed to anyone.

Relationships are when there's a close personal bond between you & someone else. You wouldn't (shouldn't) be looking for someone else to be with while you're in a relationship.
