what sites do the best job of getting repeat visitors? - Cor - 11-10-2012 12:02 AM

I'm not looking for information on SEO, but rather what sites out there have a huge following...what are they doing to get those repeat visitors. for example, I have a lot of friends who are expecting mothers and they love http://www.Whattoexpect.com and go to it everyday because they do a great job of providing relevant information/content specific to their needs.

Well, you hit the bullseye twice already without, perhaps even knowing it.

"I have a lot of friends"

This is key. And a large reason for the success of Web 2.0 technologies like FaceBook, MySpace and such. Sites that use Social Networking sites like these to build there websites are headed in a direction of success.

Further, if they can be interactive with their audience it's all the better. Yahoo Answers is successful because real people can ask real questions and get real answers. You can do this on your own website by creating a newsletter or forum or perhaps both.

"relevant information/content specific to their needs"

In Internet Marketing this is called focusing on a niche audience. Those sites that do this will when over a generic site most all the time. So decide who you want to reach and what you want to give them... then go out and do exactly that - BUT ONLY THAT - and success will be heading your way.

Of course, you could add video too. People eat up videos and the site becomes extremely popular extremely fast if you do the videos right. That's why I help people implement the viral video website concept.

Here's an example of that.

The two biggest ingredients for website success are...
1. Persistence (Never give up)
2. Committment (Do something every day)
