Okay..So two days ago (August 17th), I was getting out of the car and being the clumsy person I am, COMPLETELY shut the car door on my index finger. Not on my fingernail, my actual finger. It happened below the fingernail. As soon as it happened, there was such an huge indentation on my finger that I thought my bone completely split in half. It was scary looking. About 20 minutes after it happened, It became black, red, and purple and swelled like a balloon. It was numb. The next morning I woke up and my finger was completely blue. I cannot even bend my finger and my mom says it looks like it's broken. I cannot do anything with this finger because the pain is excruciating. Please help and tell me if I should go to the doctor and here is a picture comparison of my regular finger next to my somewhat broken finger..

It looks a little swollen, seems like its alright but don't take it from me I highly Reccomend you go see a doctor just to be safe.

Do you think a lot of blood woul spill out if you were to poke it with a Sharp object

Definitely go to a doctor, because if you don't get it treated it could just get worse

Yea. It looks broken. You should see a doctor to make sure there is no other damage(tendon) and to make sure it heals right. The last thing you want is a finger to heal wrong. They will probably just tape the index and middle finger together, so you won't need a cast or anything. Good Luck, hope for the best.

Ouch I remember when I smashed my finger tips on the door of my house( hinges side). My fingers looked much worse than yours, they were black and blue and couldn't move them. My fingernails also came off
. I didn't see a doctor and I turned out alright. But I didn't have a dent like yours, my injury was more of a press that slowly crunched my fingers. The only reason I didn't go to the doc was I didn't have insurance at the time. So I suggest you go for a check up.

It's broken I broke my pinkie and it looked just like that you don't need to go to the doctor just take medical tape and gauze and put the gauze between the broken index finger and middle finger then take medical tape and wraps it up when you take a shower you can take it off change your gauze and tape every morning in a few days see if you can bend it if you can but it still hurts then keep wrapping it up until you can put your hand into a fist and it doesn't hurt
hope I helped oh and also take ibprophin or tylenol for the pain if you want
