What is the story with social networking privacy & Employers? - eagerrock051 - 11-10-2012 12:06 AM

All the time i've been hearing about how you should be wary of photos/statuses etc you post as potential employers can view this information blah blah blah.

I'm not fully aware of what this is saying, if i have my profile set to the strictest privacy ie that only friends can see my posts etc. Would employers not learning of information about me not either be from
1) other friends whos settings aren't private & information is shared (ie my posts to them, photos of me & the friend etc)
2) Invasion of privacy & the social network giving out my details

Do a search on your name. You may be surprised what you find.

Social networking is not private. If you are posting it on the web, you are putting it out there for anyone to see. If anyone thinks twitter or facebook is truly secure and private they are very naive.
