i go to send a direct message on twitter and i type the message and i have made sure it is less that 140 characters. But the tab where you select who to send it to is empty! (i have followers and people i am following)

It can only be sent to people that your following AND following you! you cant send a direct message to somebody like obama or something unless theyre following you. If not, people like obama would get 2 million direct messages a day and would be a hassle....
