How to convince your parents to let you get facebook? - TheShanZzzi - 11-10-2012 12:08 AM

I have already asked this question few days ago, but it wasn't answered to my satisfaction so I'm just going to ask again.
My parents are afraid for my safety, they think I'll get stalked if I have a facebook account.
How can I convince them that the privacy settings are good, and get them to give me a chance with it?
And don't tell me to get an account behind their back because I'm not going to
Thanks in advance for your help Smile

Not only tell them everything the privacy settings will do in order to conceal your info but also let them no that u will only add friends or people that u kno personally... not random strangers... also convince them its a good way to stay in contact with distant friends n relatives... try it may work

Hi
tell them that its just a social networking sites ,no one will come out and catch your neck for any activity on facebook ,tell them that i helps you to keep connected with your friends ,etc, etc.
and you wont be sharing your image or your personal information on facebook

The reason your parents feel as they due is probably because the bad security holes in facebook have been in the media a lot lately. I have attached a link from a reputable site with some of the issues your parents are aware of.

If you read up on all the flaws and issue and can still prove the media wrong then you may be able to show your parents that it is safe but I doubt it very much. Facebook is in a lot of trouble right now for their security issues being so bad.

Your parents are just looking out for you with good reason, unless you can show them that what is in the media is not true you don't have much of a chance of convincing them. Maybe once facebook fixes the security issues it will be easier to do that but you will need to keep up with what is on the news about it to know when and if they do manage to fix it and make it secure.
