I got home and it said I had a notification of a friend tagging me in a photo.. and when I clicked on it, it disappeared and I never saw the photo or anything since. There's no photo on her profile either.. yet it said 'so and so has tagged you in a photo about an hour ago'

it means that you were tagged, but your friend removed the tag.
