Because I dont have it set to anything at the moment and I dont want anyone to get a notification.
I mean will it say; So and so changed their status to single! Even though I removed it?

Yes, it will send a notification. If you set it, go directly to your own profile page and delete it from your wall. That should remove it from everyones wall. You can also change your privacy settings to not alert people on status changes, I believe.
