I want to put on Facebook that I'm in a relationship with my boyfriend but we've only been together for two months and my mom doesn't know him or his family that well but lots of other kids do it even my best friend did it. Should I update it or should I wait awhile ?

If you want your mom to know, tell her. Why use facebook to do that? This kind of things are better communicated face to face. It doesn't mean that you have to do exactly what others are doing. You should wait, find out how he is doing with his family about this, then break the news gently.
