What's the chances of my parents finding out if I make a facebook without them knowing? - Holly - 11-10-2012 01:32 AM

I really want a facebook, but apparently I'm not "mature" enough so I am thinking about just making one without my parents knowing, but I am hesitating because I would be in a lot of trouble if they find out.
if I set my profile on private, do you think theyll figure it out (if they find my page)?

I completely agree because I recently got facebook after a long time of moaning and grumpiness. It's up to you if you want to make a facebook account but you never know. Maybe in the next few days your parents will think you can have an account and when they try to make one and put in your email address to find out that "That email address already belongs to a Facebook user." You'll be in more trouble than just leaving it!

You seem very mature to me. You type grammatically and use proper punctuation and spelling!

If you use all the privacy settings on your new FB account, the only way your parents could find out is if they spy on your computer history. Most parents don't do that but if yours are that overprotective they might. Also, and this is a no-brainer, don't accept friend requests from your parents or other adult friends and relatives!

Also, can you help me with something? I have a video on YouTube and I need thumbs up to win my way into a music festival: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-13jZyJerF8 Please click thumbs up for me!

Also, I think the first answerer brings up another valid concern. You should make a new email to start your account. One that your parents don't know about so they can't check it!

Oh, God yes. I did the same thing, and got in SO MUCH TROUBLE! I made one last year, and my friend Emmalee had one too. She deactivated hers because her mom told her to. A few months later, I deactivated mine. Then, at a sleepover, Emmalee, Kaylee, me and Regina were on Regina's brothers facebook when Emmalee said "Ariel, don't you have a facebook?" Obviously, I lied and said no. Then she said "Yes you do! Your name was Arriaa Neilly (it was. it was a fake name) and you talked to me!" so i said "maybe it was my cousin!" (HORRIBLE LIE!) Well, Regina is my best friend, and she told her mom about it. Then Regina's mom called my mom. And I got grounded for 5 months. No phone. Or computer. Or facebook until I'm 17.*SIGH*

I have a hidden facebook from my parents Tongue. If you DON'T use your real name and set it to private, then you should be fine. Also (I think this goes without saying) avoid adding people who know your parents.
