Is there any way to make my dads child support money go straight to my bank account instead of to my mom? - Joanna12 - 11-13-2012 05:56 AM

I am about to turn seventeen and going to be a senior in high school .

To answer that we'd need to know your age and status as a student.

uh...no. The money is paid to her. For your support.

Period.

Child support is paid to the parent with custody to pay towards the child, this includes rent, utilities, food etc. So no it can't be paid to you.

The child support is not yours. The courts awarded that child support to your mother to assist in paying for your food, shelter, and clothing. It will NEVER be yours. When you turn 18 and/or graduate from high school, that child support will be terminated.

Who is paying for your food, shelter, clothing, and medical care? If it is your mom, then she is entitled to be reimbursed by your dad for his share. If it is you, it's time to be emancipated and neither of your parents will be responsible for you. Meaning no child support.

Not until you reach the age of majority for your state.

For 22 years, I have volunteered my time working with divorced/single fathers dealing in family law issues, such as child support, teaching them about what the states are not telling support obligors.
