Not a big fan of Facebook or MySpace.

Texting is vital and I rarely talk on the phone unless I have to. I can get much more accomplished in less time via texting and can convey more to multiple people simultaneously.

Twitter is also vital and goes hand in hand with texting. Not only can I update and receive short messages from friends and co-workers, I can receive breaking news from all over the world in a matter of seconds compared to searching all over the web or waiting for TV to catch up.

So as for the impact, texting will only become more popular along with Twitter. MySpace is already dying and Facebook probably won't be far behind. These trends will probably make people a little less social when it comes to direct interaction, but will also become more connected with people in the long run.
