Do something stupid that will get covered by tv news. That seems to work for everyone else.

post something that people will like and they will start to follow, then all you have to do is to keep up with the great tweets then more will follow. you can also follow them and they might even follow you back!!! hope this helps!!!!

follow random people, make funny posts with the trending topics, post your twitter on other websites (facebook,tumblr etc)
