How can a find out information on a family member? - Amber - 11-15-2012 08:45 AM

I met my dad when i was 14 for the first time. I have a brother that i never met. Ive searched his name and cant find nothing that i can access for free. I know the city where he lives and his complete name but cant seem to find nothing for free any suggestions?

If you have a Facebook account, did you check Facebook to see if he may have one too?

Or, if you haven's used Spokeo, you may wish to try that:

If neither of those suggestions are good, then . . . a more traditional route would be . . .

To find out the address where he lives, you can telephone the public library in the city where he lives and ask a reference librarian to look him up (by his name) in the City Directory. It should list his mailing address and maybe even his phone number. If his name is very common you may not be able to figure out which of the many entries in the City Directory are for him and may have to write down the info for all those with his name who are listed there. (Note: City Directories are compiled and published by the main credit reporting agencies in the USA. So, even if someone has a cell phone or an unlisted phone #, if he/she is an adult and if he/she has a credit card, then his/her name, address where he gets mailed credit card notices and other bills, and phone # will most likely be listed.)

To get the phone # of the public library in the city where your brother lives, you can conduct a search using your favorite search engine, following this strategy - using the quotation marks as indicated:
"City Name, State" "public library"
Example:
"Upper Saddle River, New Jersey" "public library"
